polymyalgia without prednizone

My daughter has alopecia and colitis. She was given prednisone for the colitis and that caused her hair to grow back. Now she is off prednisone and her hair/eyebrows are again falling out. Are there are any natural herbs or other meds that can be used to suppress the immune system that are safer than prenisone?
