Hello Beth,

I must assume that your question "What is this?" pertains to the subject of this message: "looking for a specific adjustment for hiatal hernias."

A hiatal hernia is when the top part of the stomach bulges up through the hiatus (opening) in the diaphragm and pushes into the lower part of the esophagus. This allows digestive juices from the stomach to get into the lower part of the esophagus and irritate the unprotected lining of the esophagus.

There are adjustments for hiatal hernias. These should only be done by qualified chiropractic physicians.

Best of Health,

Doc Kelley
