polymyalgia without prednizone

I am not able to read your response to the question of the above question. I have someone in mind with similar circumstances who is a male about 82 exercises 3x's a week golf's 9 holes 2x's a wek. Has seriose pain in shoulders from polymylagia and is now diabetic. What can be done besides prednizone?    Thank You in advance   David Larkin
