What Do You Have to Change and for How Long?
|
| If you are feeling and functioning at less than your optimal level, you are experiencing a lack of homeostasis or balance. This imbalance is the result of you and your body doing the best it can to cope with your present condition. Any ill-ness or dis-ease is actually your body’s best response, or adaptation, to its past and current situation. To treat just your symptoms is to take away your body’s temporary, best solution and force it to start over.
In other words the standard medical approach to ill-ness, dis-ease, health, and healing (treating symptoms) is not only incorrect but potentially extremely harmful. "Doctors” have, historically, attempted to convince you, their “patients,” that only they can cure you. Physicians of all types are excellent for crisis or trauma intervention. However, they are abject failures at disease prevention or chronic degenerative diseases such as arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, or whatever. An old Chinese aphorism says it best, "The superior physician cures before the illness is manifested. The inferior physician can care only for the illness which he was unable to prevent."
Since physicians do not have a cure for any non-traumatic condition, their primary purpose in treating such conditions should be education. Patients are seeking answers outside themselves. Occasionally a physician provides precisely the “answer” you require. A “miracle” cure results. The vast majority of these miracles occur when you incorporate some type of life style change into your life. This is nothing more or less than an educational system involving a teacher (care giver, physician, etc.) and you, the student or patient.
If the teacher says or does the correct things that you need or want to hear, you willingly accept this knowledge and begin to make it part of your life with positive healing results. Inexplicably, the things you want or need to hear the most are those which you already know on some level. You just need to hear and accept them from a slightly different viewpoint or perspective. Then it makes complete sense, primarily because you already knew it, and secondarily because you have finally reached a point where you have decided to accept it.
In other words, you seek that outside yourself which you already know within yourself, but which you, for whatever reason, can not access or accept, at that particular time, by yourself. This explains why a particular patient can go from one physician to another for years, or for a lifetime, without finding a “cure.” This person simply has not yet “accepted” what s/he needs in order to cure themselves. At some point, this individual may become lucky enough, or desperate enough, to find and listen to a physician that says or does precisely what is needed, at that time, to evoke a change. If the change results in a life style change, the cure may become permanent. If you return to the original life style patterns and abuses that resulted in your current condition(s), your dis-ease will re-occur.
All you have to do to become and stay healthy is change your mind. Once you do, you can recognize the abuses that created your problem(s) and stop them. You must want to be healthy. You must seek health. You are the only one that can do what it takes to become and remain healthy. When you are ready, you will change your mind. When you do, you will surely make the correct life style choices for you. Hopefully, this information will allow you to re-discover what you already know. You are your own superior physician. |
What to Expect
|
| To avoid a great deal of frustration and potential disappointment, please understand, from the outset, that what you decide to change or add to your life style may seem overwhelming. Asking questions, re-reading this information, as well as referring back to confusing or difficult sections, will make it much easier for you to integrate. It is not unusual to require six to twelve reviews (weekly at first, then monthly) to successfully understand and accomplish life style changes.
You will be able to incorporate all the changes which will be suggested for you, but you will not be able to complete them overnight. Your progress will depend greatly upon your current health status, your attitude, your outlook, and how long you have had the problem(s) which brought you to your present condition. Be patient with yourself. Your persistence will be rewarded.
If, at any time, you develop new symptoms from attempting any recommendation, either stop or slow down implementing that suggestion. Re-institute, increase, or resume as your system allows you to tolerate the changes. Pay careful attention to your body’s responses.
Most people will begin to see improvements within a short period of time, such as weeks to months. Everyone will require approximately six to eighteen, or more, months to experience complete, lasting, life style changes and the more permanent results of such changes. |
Deciding What Is Relevant
|
| We are unique individuals in all ways (physically, chemically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually). We have different wants, desires, and requirements. Test each of the suggestions made for its importance and relevance to you and your needs. If it feels correct, if you can incorporate it comfortably and adequately into your life style, and, if it makes a noticeable difference, it is for you. Use it in health. If not, move on to the next one. The information contained on the
General Dietary Recommendations page under "Things to be Eliminated or Minimized." Is important for everyone. Be as diligent as possible. They are listed in their order of importance. The more of them, the more completely, and the sooner that you can remove these from your lifestyle, the faster and more long lasting will be your overall health improvements.
Above all else, use your own intuition and common sense. Always follow your conscience. Do the best you can, as often as you can. Be patient, but consistent with yourself. Life is short and must be lived to its fullest at all times. "Don't Worry, Be Happy" is always the best policy that produces the least stress. Seek quality of life. Accept nothing less than optimal health with maximum vitality and you will succeed. |
