Dark circles under eyes

  1. 17 years ago

Okay I have a new one. I have dark circles around my eyes. I look like a racoon sometimes. I know this happens to people when they get ill. What I want to know is what specifically, in laymans terms, is happening to the skin ? Are cells dying or what ? What is happening that the skin is now black or at least appear black ? Can this be reversed ? If so is it a long term thing ? I am tending to see this in people more and more I feel. Understandably the diet of people has gotten worse.

    Hello Jim,

Dark circles under your eyes are due to lymphatic congestion. Most people relate this to liver and/or kidney toxic overload. Since there are no muscles under your eyes to absorb excess fluid, this liquid is trapped under the skin surface waiting for lymphatic drainage to clear it. You see this collection of fluid right through your skin.

To reverse as well as prevent these dark circles you need to reduce the toxic load on your kidneys and on your liver. The best thing of all is to drink adequate amounts of pure water that contains no chlorine or fluorine. You can safely drink up to half your body weight in ounces of water every day.

That is an awful lot of water. I certainly do not drink that much. The point is we all could probably benefit from drinking more water every day. And, with dark circles under your eyes, you certainly need to do so.

In addition, to help your liver and kidneys clear and heal, consider drinking one to three, four to six ounce, glasses of freshly made juice from organic vegetables. A really good, cleansing vegetable combination would be one to two ounces of "green" juice (from fresh greens such as kale, chard, and especially spinach) with some cucumber, parsley, celery, beets, and carrots.

  3. Thank you. I have been trying to get this answer for a long time. I am the jim that wrote to you earlier about my angina. With this data I can see that there is a great possibilty that this kidney/liver situation is part of my overall porblem. Thanks again.

    Hello Rochelle,

Yes, genetics could definitely be a possibility. I only consider the implications of dark circles as part of an overall picture of someone and what it may imply if they are experiencing health problems.

  8. Hi, I have dark circles and I am need to know, do you change your diet if you do the cleansing vegetable combination, and drink more water. Is there anything you should or should not eat? Also, I heard if you do a cleansing you should do a colon cleanse also. Will the vegetable combination cleanse the colon too? Thank you....Lena

    Hello Lena,

As you apparently know, dark circles under your eyes generally means you need to detoxify your liver and kidneys. You can do this with increased pure water (especially pure alkaline water) and fresh vegetable juice combinations. Doing a colon cleanse at the same time can be extremely helpful and speed up the process dramatically.

In terms of what you should not eat, I would suggest you avoid all simple sugars, including anything made with flour, milk and milk products (substitute goat milk and goat milk products), and any prepackaged food items (including any fast foods). Emphasize organic foods whenever possible. Use sprouted grain breads instead of breads and bread products made with flour.
