psoriasis

I am 62 and was diagnosed two years ago with planta plamar psoriasis. I have found some things that help. The main treatment they gave me was a vitamin D ointment and I discovered after research that infrared light treatments are also good. I figured that if I should put Vit Dointment on my feet maybe it would help to take some orally. I started taking cod liver oil daily (we live in Panama and right now that is the only form I can find it) that gives me the equivalant of 5000 IU a day. I also try to sit in the sun with my feet exposed 2 or 3 times a week. The combination really helps. I got some vitD3 capsules from the US and then did NOT do the trick. I do my best to keep all flour products out of my diet and that definitely has helped too.

I am type 0 and I was wondering if there are any other foods or vitamins or herbs I should try or definitely eliminate to help further.

My hands are now free of psoriasis. My feet are generally free of cracks, but it still takes constant attention and I have a few small spots on my legs.

I appreciate any suggestions you have.

    Hello Nancy,

You are definitely on the right track, but rather than cod liver oil, see if your health food store carries an excellent quality krill oil. It should work better. If you're not already, take a good quality vitamin E complex, about 400 to 800 iu per day, first thing in the morning.

Your best food choices are the ones for type O; mostly good quality organic meats and vegetables. Definitely avoid all simple sugars, including anything made with flour.

    Best of Health,

    Doc Kelley
