gaining weight

  1. 6 years ago

Hello Doc Kelly - I am 63 years old. I am 5'10" and weigh 131. I struggle to gain weight. I eat as natural as possible, with no sugars, flours, daily products. I eat lots of nuts and seeds. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Marilyn

    Hello Marilyn,

The biggest problem for most people struggling to gain weight, especially women, is inadequate protein intake and/or inability to properly digest protein.

If you are getting at least 4 oz of good quality protein and/or at least 20+ grams of good quality protein each meal and still having difficulty adding weight, consider being evaluated by an Enzyme Therapy Associate. This person will be able to help you determine if you need supplemental enzymes and, if so, which specific ones you require. Call 800-614-4400 and ask for the name, address and phone number of the Associate closest to you.

  3. Hi Doc Kelley-I have significantly increased my proteins. I have found a four grain breakfast cereal that has 8 grams of protein for 1/4 cup. That helps my breakfast considerably. My next question: how long will it take before I will gain weight? I was wondering so I will know if I need to add enzymes also. Thanks - Marilyn

    Hello Marilyn,

Enzymes are always a good choice to optimize your digestion and absorption of nutrients from your foods.

The best enzyme formulas are produced by Enzyme Formulations, Inc. Call 800-614-4400 and ask them where you can find their products.

Predicting how long for you to gain weight is impossible. Everyone is unique. You do not want to just gain weight. You want to gain muscle. This requires exercise as well as improving your diet.

Consider Pilates, Yoga, Tai Chi, swimming or whatever activities you really like and enjoy.

    Best of Health,

    Doc Kelley

  5. Hi Doc Kelly,

Thank you again for your reply. I really am grateful for your expertise. So it is not a quick thing.

I take care of my dad 24/7 so I am not free to do much of the things you suggested. However, I do garden and the weather is getting better. I do exercise 30 minutes every morning, but will add some of the strength training ones again in the afternoon.

I will contact the Enzyme Formulations.

Also I have basil ganglia brain injuries. I have an excellent chiropractic neurologist that has given me lots of brain exercises which have helped. She says that my basil ganglia hoards all my nutrients. So I have to work extra hard with my nutrition.

Again I thank you for my new path with proteins,

    Marilyn

  7. Hi Doc Kelly,

I looked on the Enzyme Formulations web site, but I couldn't figure out which one to order. Actually I would like to have an enzyme that I can take without food to help with allergies.

Also, I received a reply from you that I didn't generate on Vitiligo Oil. Someone might still be waiting for that response.

    Thanks,

    Marilyn

    Hello Marilyn,

First, I've never sent a message about Vitiligo Oil to anyone so I have no idea about its origin. I will let my web master know so he can try to track it. Thanks for the heads up.

As for which formula to use, I generally recommend the Women's formula as the best one to begin. Use 1 or 2 capsules at the beginning of meals depending upon the size of the meal and/or the amount of protein in the meal.

You would need to be tested for which formula you would need specifically for your allergies. Try to find an Enzyme Associate close to you by checking the web site or calling 800-614-4400. This person could test you to determine exactly which formulas are best for you.
